Blogging is what you need to do if you’re looking for a passive income stream. It’s what all the cool kids are doing these days, and it doesn’t require any of your time or effort. You just write about what interests you, post on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, get some followers, and start earning money!

Simple, right?

Well, not really. Blogging requires a lot of hard work, research, hard work and mistakes. But with my help, we can minimize the mistakes made. In this guide, we’ll talk more about what blogging entails – what it is exactly so that you can decide whether this is the perfect passive income stream for you!

What Is Blogging?

Ask any person what a blog is, and you’ll get a variety of answers. Some people will say it’s just someone using the internet to talk about what they love, which in this case would be blogging! Other people may think that blogs are editorial sites where many opinions can be shared freely. Or maybe some might even tell you that blogs are as simple as personal journals online – but those aren’t really accurate enough for what we’re talking about today.

So what exactly is blogging? Well, there isn’t an exact definition because everyone seems to have their own interpretation of what a blog actually means. However, most bloggers agree on two definitions:

Personal Journal Definition

A space online where anyone who cares to visit your website can read what’s on your mind, what you’re thinking about, and what interests you.

Online Magazine Definition

A website that is usually run by a single person who publishes only their own content for the entire internet to see. This includes many blogging websites, which may include review blogs, fashion blogs, cooking blogs or even political (opinion) sites!

What Does Blogging Entails?

Of course, when people think of what it means to be a blogger, there are always grey areas because everyone has different requirements from what they look for in an online presence. Whether this is entertainment purposes or just trying to share information not easily found elsewhere. But most bloggers agree on what being effective at running a profitable blog entails:

1. Content Creation

“Content creation is what all bloggers must do if they want to get their blog off the ground. It takes time, energy, and creativity for zero income.”

It’s what some people will tell you can be easy or hard, depending on what type of content you’re creating. For example, if your blog features recipes, then it probably won’t take long to create one, but what about something more complicated, like a review of an exciting new coffee shop?

What Type Of Content Should You Create?

The first thing you’ll need to figure out when you’re setting up your blog is the type of content you’ll be creating. You should first think about what interests you, what’s a good fit for your audience, and what will keep them coming back to see what else you’ve written. Content can include:

  • Text Posts
  • Videos
  • Infographics
  • Photos and so so many more!

2. Posting On Social Media

This part doesn’t necessarily apply to all bloggers, but if you’re trying to grow an audience online, it is proven time and time again that social media helps with exactly this! Growing an audience on social media takes consistency and perseverance, which means spending some serious hours posting content across multiple platforms (that actually get used) such as Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.

Plus managing comments left by readers who are interested in what you have to say. However, if it’s just your own blogs that are getting all this attention, then managing a comment section may not be necessary!

3. Guest Blogging or Writing For Other Blogs

If you’re looking for an additional income stream or want to help others in the blogging community, writing articles and posting them on other people’s sites is where it’s at. But there can be a downside… sometimes these posts get edited without your knowledge, so make sure what ends up going live is what was initially agreed upon – especially when money changes hands between both parties! In any case, guest blogging has been proven as one of the best ways to grow traffic online and gain new followers who trust what you might say about certain topics.

These are just the tip of the iceberg!
